Apple Vision Pro is a **mixed-reality headset** for spatial computing that blends digital content into the space around us¹. It is driven by your **eyes, hands, and voice** and has a design goal of not being isolated¹. The device is powered by an **M2 chip** with a custom media co-processor and can capture spatial photos and videos¹. It also has a new biometric security method called **Optic ID**¹. The price starts at **$3,499** and it will be available early next year¹.
To begin, FB’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that Vision Pro does not provide any “magical solutions” that “our teams haven’t already explored and thought of.” He acknowledged that Vision Pro has a better resolution display with more technology within, but he discounted that by adding, “it costs seven times more and now requires so much energy that you now need a battery and a wire attached to it to use it.” They made that design trade-off, and it may make sense for the applications they’re pursuing.”
In terms of how Apple and Meta approach AR/VR differently, Zuckerberg stated that Meta is focused on making their headsets “accessible and affordable.”
But, look, I believe their declaration exemplifies the disparity in ideals.
