Yesterday, I heard some sad news about a submarine called ‘Titan’…
Who had gone on a 3,800-meter deep “sea expedition” to find the sunken wreckage of Titanic (with 5 total passengers in the sub)…
And apparently, the sub had exploded with all the passengers presumed dead.
Now, once I dove deeper into the news, I quickly understood WHY…
The CEO of the company, who was responsible for the sub, said to the news:
“I didn’t want to hire experienced 50-year old guys to captain our subs, because anybody could drive them with a $30 video game controller”
I was totally baffled when I read that, and thought to myself…
“Is this guy serious? He really thinks he can go 3,800 meters underwater with a VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER and an inexperienced crew? What???”
… But then, I realized many digital marketing professionals do the same in business.
They have a ‘know-it-all-attitude’ and think they can do everything themselves…
And the next thing you know, years later they’re stuck, burnt-out, frustrated and thinking about giving up and filing bankruptcy…
(Or worse, like in this submarine’s case, presumed dead).
… Even though everything could’ve been prevented with proper guidance.
